We meet at the fountain in front of the mission at 9:30 AM in the morning for the morning hike. These hikes are on the front country trails behind Santa Barbara and Montecito. Dress appropriately with hiking boots, comfortable clothes and bring at least a liter of water in your backpack or fanny pack. Bring sunscreen and bug repellant when necessary. The morning hike leaves at 9:30 AM SHARP and we get back between 11:30 AM and noon. There are no dogs allowed on the hikes for safety concerns. The hike is approximately 4 miles, 2 miles up and 2 miles back. These hikes are appropriate for beginners in good health. We will carpool to the hike from the mission. Thanks so much for being a Santa Barbara Sierra Club member! Our Santa Barbara Group has partnered with the Community Environmental Council and the Fearless Grandmothers. Together we are hosting Fridays forFuture the first Friday of every month in 2026.

We gather with fellow activists, students, allies, community partners, and friends. Our goal is to create a gathering space where individuals can take collective action, get educated, and collaborate to protect our planet. These monthly gatherings facilitate inspired grassroots action to combat climate change in quantifiable ways.
Our next gathering will be at the Community Environmental Council Hub.

We will gather between 4-5:30pm on Friday, August 7.

CEC, the Society of Fearless Grandmothers Santa Barbara, and the Santa Barbara Sierra Club host Climate Friday SB on the first Friday of each month — a chance for fellow climate activists, students, allies, community partners, and friends to come together. We aim to create a space where individuals can learn about regional climate change issues, take collective action, and collaborate to protect our planet.

This event is part of the Community Environmental Council's A Year of Active Hope, a series of free events hosted at our Environmental Hub to unite the community and create space for courage, connection, and change.

We would love to have you and your friends join the gathering. We also welcome collaborative ideas for your involvement.

Dress appropriately with hiking boots, comfortable clothes and bring at least a liter of water in your backpack or fanny pack. Bring sunscreen and bug repellant when necessary. Bring a flashlight or headlamp for the night hikes. The evening hike leaves at 6:15 PM SHARP and we get back between 8:30 PM and nine. There are no dogs allowed for safety concerns. These hikes are approximately 4 miles, 2 miles up and 2 miles back and are appropriate for beginners in good health. We will carpool to the hike from the mission.
