Anyone interested in hiking, biking, backpacking, kayaking, or other outdoor activities in Alabama should join this Meetup : ) Sierra Club Alabama Chapter offers a host of outdoor opportunities for with an added element of mindfulness and conservation. We strive to ensure there is something for everyone.
Sierra Club's mission is to explore and protect the planet. We practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and natural resources. All Outings Leaders with Sierra Club are First Aid/CPR certified.
Join us and learn why Alabama is so special and its conservation is so important! Supporting Sierra Club's outings means more than enjoying the wild outdoors. It also means understanding why we must protect what we enjoy!

Tuesday Night Hikes
Monte Sano Hiker's Parking Lot, 5105 Nolen Ave SE, Huntsville, AL, USTuesday night hikes in Monte Sano State Park for 2026. Meet at the Hiker's Parking Lot starting at 5:15 to sign in; hikes begin PROMPTLY at 5:30 so we can get back well before sunset. Rated as strenuous because these are fast hikes; distance covered will depend on amount of daylight remaining. We will aim to get back to the trailhead 15-30 minutes before sunset.
The park charges an entry fee (https://www.alapark.com/parks/monte-sano-state-park/entrance-fees-and-annual-passes); no cost for the hike itself.
Bring sturdy shoes, water, snacks, hiking poles if you use them, and bug repellent/sun block as needed. Wear some blaze orange as well!
Steady rain or forecasted storms cancels.There will be a waiver to sign at the trailhead.
