Beginner Winter Backpacking Big South Fork

We'll meet at the Meijer's parking lot in Florence KY where individuals can arrange car pools. Our hike in will start at Bandy Creek campground where we will take the Little Farm and Falls Branch trails approx 5 miles and 600 ft elevation gain to our basecamp. Saturday we will day hike up to the Grand Gap loop, approx 8 miles with fantastic views of Big South Fork and Angel Falls before returning to our camp. Sunday we hike out to the cars via the Litton Farm, again approx 5 miles.

We will stop for a fast food lunch (or bring your own) on the way down. On the way back we will stop for lunch in Oneida before returning to Florence.

This is a beginner trip, however the trails are rough and it is winter so conditions are unpredictable. We'll be camping near water which must be treated.
