About us

Hello there!

Starting with our event on the 11th of June at the Another Country Book Shop, we have moved our event schedule from Meetup to Luma.

This means that, from now on, we will be posting our upcoming events and activities on Luma.

The link to the calendar is https://luma.com/silent-book-club-berlin-west

We encourage those of you who wish to stay up to date with our events to subscribe to the new calendar, as from June 2026 onwards we will no longer be posting on Meetup.
Looking forward to reading with you again and again,
Laura and Francesco

If you're wondering where you landed, here's a quick explanation 😊.
This is a group for people who are interested in participating in weekday evening Silent Book Club-like events in West Berlin.

What is a Silent Book Club? Well, in a nutshell, it works like this:

  1. ✒ Sign up for the next event
  2. 📕 Bring the book you are reading (any book is welcome!)
  3. 🚶🏾‍♀🚶🏼 Go to the meeting place
  4. 👋🏼 Say hello to the people gathered there and chat a bit
  5. 🛋 When the time comes, make yourself comfortable
  6. 📖 Dive deep into your book, quietly, while everyone around you does the same
  7. ⌛ After about 45 minutes of reading, if you wish, share your thoughts about the book with your fellow readers
  8. 🫂 Say goodbye
  9. 🔄 Repeat!

The events take place in Cafés around Schöneberg, Wilmersdorf or Charlottenburg, and last for about two hours, around the time people get out from work. All events are free of charge. (But it’s always nice to order something from the counter to make sure our hosts keep liking us! ☕💜)

18:00-18:20 – 🫖 Arrivals, greetings, warming up
18:20-19:10 – 📚 Quiet Reading
19:10-20:00 – 💬 Chatting and sharing thoughts about our books

The idea of Silent Book Clubs was born in the USA, but has since spread all over the world, and Berlin itself is home to several groups and events inspired by it.

RSVP and…we can’t wait to read with you!
