This is a special event that is concurrent with this week's regular silent book club meetup. RSVP is NOT needed. It will happen in the middle of the meetup for about 15min. After it, silent bookclub returns to routine bookish talk session.
BookLovers: Keep it Community (Your $$ that is): How to Find Exciting New Books You’ll Love by Local Authors."
Two featured local authors offer a short, 15 minute talk on how book-lovers can find local authors and buy their books in a way where most of the money ends up in the author's hands, instead of corporate. They will also be giving their books away for free.
Mary Vensel White is the author of the recent story collection, Resonant Blue and Other Stories, the IBPA award-winning young adult novel Things to See in Arizona, and the adult novels Starling, Bellflower, and The Qualities of Wood. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in numerous publications. She’s the publisher and owner of Type Eighteen Books and offers editing and book services at Type Eighteen Editing. She also teaches writing and English and is the President of the California Writers Club, Orange County.
Elisabeth Rhoads is the author of Haggard House, a Forward Reviews Editor's Pick, as well as numerous short stories. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts and is the current Vice-President on the board of the California Writers Club, Orange County branch. Since 2021, she has been volunteer judging the Scholastic Writing Awards.
