### Silent Reading Afternoon

Are you looking for a quiet, cozy space to unwind with a good book? Join us for Silent Reading Afternoon – a unique reading event where book lovers can come together to enjoy a peaceful afternoon of uninterrupted reading.
We usually host this event in the evening, but this time, we’re opening it in the afternoon to welcome those who find it easier to join during the day.

📚 This time’s theme is “Nobel Prize”!
You’re welcome to bring a novel by a Nobel literature winner,
or a book related to Nobel Prize topics like science, peace, or economics.
Of course, you can also bring any book you simply feel like reading 📖

### 📖 What to Expect:

• No distractions: We encourage everyone to turn off their smartphones and place them in the box provided at the entrance. This helps create a quiet and focused atmosphere for everyone.
• Free drinks: We provide hot water, caffeine-free tea, and coffee. You’re also welcome to bring your favorite drink.
• Quiet snacks: Feel free to bring snacks as long as they don’t make much noise.
• Book browsing: You can bring your own book or explore the books on our shelves.
• Post-reading discussion: After the reading session, we’ll have an optional group conversation where you can share your thoughts. Discussions will be held in Japanese or English. If you’re not comfortable with Japanese, the host will be happy to help with interpretation.

いつも、本をちゃんと読みたいと思っているけれども、仕事や家事、スマホから流れてくるお知らせで集中して読めない……
だからこそ「ただ黙って本を読む」だけのイベントを企画しました。
いつもは夜の開催ですが、夜の参加が難しい方もいらっしゃるので、今回は週末の午後に開催します。

今回のテーマは「ノーベル賞」！受賞作家の小説でも、科学・平和・経済などの受賞者に関する本でもOK。
もちろん、好きな本を持ってきてもOKです📖

📚 持ち物：紙の本（bokashiの書棚からも借りられます）
予約不要 / 参加無料 / 途中入退場自由 / 飲料OK / 私語と仕事は禁止 / メモはOK
スマホなどの電子機器は受付でお預かりします。
静かで落ち着いた環境で、一緒に本を読みましょう。
読書後は参加者同士で自由に感想を話し合う時間を設けます。お時間のある方は、ぜひご参加ください。

Silent Reading Night — A Quiet Evening with Books
We all want to sit down and really read a book, but work, house chores, and endless phone notifications keep pulling us away…
That’s why I created this event: a simple gathering where we just turn off our devices and enjoy reading together in silence.
This time, I will host at Hoheikan, a historic Meiji-era building located in Nakajima Park, Sapporo.

📚 Event Details
Date & Time: 18:00 – 20:30 (Open 17:00)
Venue: Hoheikan, Room “Tsubaki” (2nd floor)
Capacity: 20 people (limited to the room size)
Fee: Shared among participants. For example, with 10 people it will be about 400 yen each. The more people join, the cheaper it gets—so please invite a friend!
What to Bring: A paper book you’d like to read
Rules:
No talking during the reading time
No work during the session
Quiet drinks are fine
Note-taking is allowed
Smartphones and electronic devices must be turned off and checked in at the reception of the book club.
The room will open at 17:00. The organizer will be near the entrance of Hoheikan to guide you. If you arrive late, please come directly to the “Tsubaki” room on the 2nd floor.

🌙 Program
18:00 – 20:30: Silent reading in a calm, shared atmosphere
20:30 onward: Optional group discussion to share your impressions of the books you’ve read (in Japanese or English, with interpretation if needed)

📌 Tourists visiting Sapporo are also very welcome!
Let’s slow down, disconnect, and enjoy reading together in a quiet, relaxed space — surrounded by the charm of this Meiji-era heritage.

だからこそ「ただ黙って本を読む」だけのイベントを企画しました。
今回は好評につき、札幌市の中島公園にある「豊平館」で開催します。
📚 開催日時:18:00 - 20:30（開場17時から）
📚 持ち物：紙の本
いつものbokashi baseでの開催とルールが異なりますので、申し込みをされる方はご注意ください。
参加人数：20人（予約した部屋の最大人数です）
部屋使用料：参加者で等分します。10人の場合は400円程度になる予定ですが、参加者が多いほど安くなるので、是非お友達を誘ってください
途中入退場自由

私語と仕事禁止

持ち物：読みたい「紙の本」だけ持ってきてください
スマホなどの電子機器は受付で、お預かりします。スイッチをオフにしてお預けください
明治時代の建物ですが、今回の部屋にはエアコンがありますが、室温については各自対策をお願いします
部屋は17時からオープンしますので、早めに来ていただいた方は、17時以降でしたら直接、部屋までお越しください。17時まででしたら、豊平館自体のエントランス付近に主催者はいますので、お声がけください。
実施する部屋は「ツバキ」です。遅れて参加される場合は、2階の「ツバキ」の間までお越しください。
読む本のテーマは、特にありません。

20:30以降は、参加者同士で読書内容について自由に話し合う時間を設けます。お時間のある方は、是非ご参加ください。
