About the Panelists:

Rich Simoni is a partner at Asset Management Ventures, which he joined s in 2002. He combines a deep technical background with extensive operational business experience. Over the past 20 years Rich has been involved with numerous start-up companies, in both management and consulting roles. He was a co-founder of Talkway Communications, a provider of Internet video services such as video email to major providers including AT&T and British Telecom.

Rich has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Two of his academic publications were chosen for inclusion in the 25-year retrospective of the International Symposium on Computer Architecture, the premier conference in the computer architecture field.

Gabriel Alvarado is an investor at Comet Labs, where he focuses on early stage industrial AI/ML startups. Gabe is excited about opportunities to leverage AI within healthcare to improve pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and patient care. Prior to Comet Labs, Gabe was an investor at Creandum, a failed startup founder, and consultant in the biotech and pharma industry at IMS Health. Gabe graduated from Stanford University as a student athlete with a degree in Economics and Management Science and Engineering.

Ephraim Lindenbaum is the founder and managing director of Advance Ventures, a Silicon Valley ­based venture investment fund and venture accelerator that invests in seed and early­ stage start­ups. Founded in 1999, Advance Ventures has consistently achieved meaningful exits with its portfolio companies across its core market sectors.

About the Moderator:

Arman Pahlavan is a corporate attorney and partner at the Perkins Coie's Emerging Companies and Private Equity groups in Palo Alto. He advises venture capital and private equity funds and their portfolio companies across their legal needs. He counsels them on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, intellectual property transactions and fund formation matters. Arman has extensive experience advising clients with emphasis on cross border transactions for corporate clients and in his investment company practice. His knowledge runs across industry lines including operating in the software information technologies, life sciences and energy.
