Silicon Valley Unicycle Group is all about bringing people of all ages together to learn, practice and ride unicycle in the South Bay and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We offer activities such as clinics, bike path riding, mountain unicycling, etc. All activities are free of charge unless required for parking or venue access.

Stevens Creek Trail Uni

Needs a location

RSVP closes at 8pm the day before meetup.

Guests on two wheels are welcome on this ride.

We'll ride north on Stevens Creek Trail for 30 minutes and turn back. Distance will be determined by our pace. This is a paved trail and terrain is almost all flat with some short/easy climbs/descends. Any unicycle 24" and up will do.

Uni Social/Beginner Meetup

Needs a location

RSVP closes at 8pm the day before meetup.

Any skill level is welcome even if you've never been on a unicycle before. More experienced riders are welcome to come hang out and help the beginners. Also, this location has direct access to a bike path where you can do some distance riding.

Equipment

If you don't have your own unicycle or protective gear, leave a comment indicating what you need: unicycle (note your inseam length), helmet, pads, gloves, etc.

Palo Alto Baylands Uni & Post-Ride BBQ

Guests on two wheels are welcome on this ride.

THE RIDE

We will start our ride on E Meadow Dr in the NE direction on residential streets. We'll then pick up the bike trail and ride towards north and cross over Hwy 101 via a pedestrian/bike bridge. Then do a loop (clockwise) around the PA Baylands. Terrain is flat (besides the bridge), partly paved, partly dirt/gravel. Be comfortable sharing the road with cars during the first and last 1/2 mile.

Any unicycle 24" and larger will do.

POST-RIDE BBQ POTLUCK

Ramos Park has BBQ pits and a large grassy field for any post-ride activities.

No restrooms at this location. There are restrooms at the Terminal Blvd trail head which is somewhat on our route near the end of the loop. Another option is Mitchell Park which is 1/2 mile away from Ramos Park.

Viva CalleSJ - September Event

Viva CalleSJ (pronounced Vee-Va Ka-Ye SJ) is a free public event hosted by the City of San Jose that closes miles of streets. It's a fun family event, not a race.

Guests are welcome to join on bicycles, kick scooters, skates, skateboards, running shoes, etc. No motorized anything is allowed at the event.

Details TBA. Meetup location will probably be somewhere around Japantown.

SKILLS

Suitable for advanced beginner unicyclists due to the distance and the fact that we'll be riding alongside a lot of people (cyclists, runners, walkers, kids, etc.) Be able to free mount and ride forward for a few miles. If you are brand new to unicycling but would like to join the festivities with us, come on a bicycle if you don't mind riding slow.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Unicycle from 24" and up, or any human-powered vehicle (no motorized vehicles)
  • Helmet is required to ride with SVUG. Other protective gear such as knee/skin guards, elbow pads, gloves, etc. is recommended
  • Although there will be hydration stations along the route, bringing your own water is recommended, especially on a hot day
  • Snacks or money for food along the way
  • Although monitored bike parking is available at activity hubs, bringing your own lock is recommended to avoid lines and delays
