Silicon Valley Unicycle Group is all about bringing people of all ages together to learn, practice and ride unicycle in the South Bay and the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We offer activities such as clinics, bike path riding, mountain unicycling, etc. All activities are free of charge unless required for parking or venue access.

Uni Social/Beginner Meetup

Landels Elementary School

RSVP closes at 8 pm the day before meetup.

Please do not attend without RSVP as we need your agreement to the disclaimers below.

Any skill level is welcome even if you've never been on a unicycle before. More experienced riders are welcome to come hang out and help the beginners. Also, this location has direct access to a bike path where you can do some distance riding.

Equipment

If you don't have your own unicycle or protective gear, leave a comment indicating what you need: unicycle (note your inseam length), helmet, pads, gloves, etc.

Safety

  • Do not attend if you feel sick.
  • Helmet is required while riding. Other protective gear (knee/skin guards, elbow pads, gloves, long pants, etc.) is recommended. Let's ride safe.
  • Bring drinking water and sunscreen.

Restroom

The school's restrooms may or may not be opened during our stay so plan accordingly.

Parking & Meeting

Use the school parking lot. Look for unicyclists in the school yard near the basketball court.

Viva CalleSJ - June Event

East Santa Clara Street

Viva CalleSJ (pronounced Vee-Va Ka-Ye SJ) is a free public event hosted by City of San Jose that closes miles of streets. It's a fun family event, not a race.

Non-unicycle guests are welcome to join us on bicycles, kick scooters, skates, skateboards, running shoes, etc.

Suitable for advanced beginner unicyclists due to the distance and the fact that we'll be riding alongside a lot of people (cyclists, runners, walkers, kids, etc.) Be able to free mount and ride forward for a few miles. If you are brand new to unicycling but would like to join the festivities with us, come on a bicycle if you don't mind riding slow.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Unicycle from 24" and up, or any human-powered vehicle
  • Helmet is required to ride with SVUG. Other protective gear such as knee/skin guards, elbow pads, gloves, etc. is recommended
  • Hydration
  • Sunscreen
  • Snacks or money for food along the way
  • Bike lock in case you find interesting activities at the activity hubs
