Viva Callecita
Details
RSVP closes at 6 pm the day before meetup.
Please do not join our group at the event without an RSVP, as we need your agreement to the disclaimers below.
Viva Callecita, a smaller-scale open streets event inspired by Viva CalleSJ, is funded by San Jose City Council District 3 (Anthony Tordillos). It will feature a shorter route (approx. 2.5 miles) while offering the same opportunity to connect with the community on streets free of cars.
Non-unicycle guests are welcome to join us on bicycles, kick scooters, skates, skateboards, running shoes, etc. Please sign up regardless of the form of transportation you use.
MEETING LOCATION
For easier parking and a smoother meetup, we’ll meet a little away from the official route. The exact meeting location is still being decided and will be shared with RSVPs before the meetup.
SKILLS
Not suitable for beginner unicyclists due to the distance and the fact that we'll be riding alongside a lot of people (cyclists, runners, walkers, kids, etc.) If you are brand new to unicycling but would like to join the festivities with us, come on a bicycle if you don't mind riding slower (unicycle speed).
WHAT TO BRING
- Unicycle from 24" and up
- Helmet is required to ride with SVUG. Other protective gear such as knee/skin guards, elbow pads, gloves, etc. is recommended
- Although there will be hydration stations along the route, bringing your own water is recommended, especially on a hot day
- Snacks or money for food along the way
- Bringing your bike lock is recommended to avoid lines and delays if you wish to stop for activities
AGE REQUIREMENT
If you are under 18 years of age, you can attend this meetup only if accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian who should also sign up as a participant.
