#agrihood study session with City Council

Details

Note: this is not a normal meetup. It is a city council study session about the Santa Clara Agrihood

There is no seperate meetup

The City of Santa Clara has scheduled a study session on the Win6/BAREC site. This is the first public meeting the City Council is having since they selected The Core Companies as the developer in September 2015. When: Tuesday, Nov 29, 5-7pm
Where: Santa Clara City Council Chambers
Why: To give updates and seek direction on the BAREC site Please ask the City:

  • What visionary goals do we have for this unique property?
  • How will it serve the greatest good?
  • How can it help Santa Clara lead in innovative land uses for the region?
  • How can we effectively urbanize portions of our suburban landscape?
  • How can this development complement/integrate with the over $2Billion of investment in Valley Fair and Santana Row directly across the street? It’s been very busy year for the City, and to no one’s fault, not much has progressed on this site: Super Bowl 50, Mayor leaving/replaced, City Manager left, staff left, largest project in California’s history approved - City Place, 49er Stadium Audit/issues, and an ugly election. Now that attention is on this project, simply accepting the initial design as the ultimate development goal, in my opinion, is short sighted and not the bold vision this community came together on. The Core Companies's current proposal should be seen as a minimum, not the target. And with the passage of SB-680, the City can now invest the necessary time in visioning the many opportunities on this site. Given the intense challenges affecting the region, we need to be bold with development goals. We can move the needle substantially if we all work together with a common goal of placemaking, sustainability, growth, mobility, and quality-of-life. This will be a great City asset…let’s maximize it for everyone. We get one shot to do the right thing. Be part of the process in designing the legacy of the Agrihood! Thank you for your support!
