Chapter Eleven - November 26th
Join us on Monday, November 26th for this year's last meetup. We'll have two great talks this month. Thanks Fortinet for sponsoring our November event. AGENDA 6:00 - 6:15pm: Networking 6:15 - 6:30pm: Introduction 6:30 - 7:15pm: Ronnie Ganwani - A playground for everyone: Industrial Control Systems - How susceptible are ICS environments? And what can we do about them? Summary of the talk: Contrary to media reports on critical infrastructure attacks being solely the work of secret governments’ elite hacker divisions, ICS systems and SCADA environments are now an attractive target for all attackers - from the script kiddie hacker in his mom’s basement, to inside actors, and to sophisticated and resourceful nation states. In this talk we will see how simple attacks can lead to disastrous results in ICS systems, and what the key is to mitigating and protecting against them. Speaker Bio: Ronnie Ganwani is a network security engineer and has held roles at Fortinet in technical marketing and as a consulting security engineer. He has experiences with in-depth stress testing and performance benchmarking as well as security effectiveness of network security products. His current specialty lies in securing some of the most vulnerable parts of a network - endpoints, and researching the security of Industrial Control Systems and SCADA environments. 7:15 - 7:30pm: Networking 7:30 - 8:15pm: Raj Kesarapalli - State-of-the-Art in Security Event Analysis Summary of the Talk: In this talk, we’ll talk about how Security Operations at Fortune 100 Companies analyze billions of incoming security events daily using state-of-the-art techniques such as correlation, AI, ML, Expert Systems, and probabilistic math. We’ll also discuss the pros and cons of each of these approaches. Speaker Bio: Raj is currently part of the Respond team focused on helping organizations with automation of Security Operations. Prior to Respond, Raj held Field, Product management and Development roles at Fortify Software, WorkSoft, Rational Software, and Pure Software focusing on Security Operations Automation (Respond), Application Security (Fortify) and SDLC tools (Rational XDE/UML, Purify product line, Robot). • What to bring Brilliant ideas, positive energy and good jokes
