What we’re about
This group is for anyone interested in philosophy. Currently, we are offering a weekly Integral Stoicism Inquiry Group. In addition we plan to offer other monthly shared inquiry groups in which participants pursue creative, critical, and reflexive thinking while situated in a philosophical inquiry. The only prerequisite for participation is an inquiring mind, and a willingness to respect the opinions and knowledge of others, in open dialogue.

The election of Donald Trump in our polarized nation evokes complex emotions and projections, from the messianic to the totalitarian. In The Monarchy of Fear, Martha Nussbaum dives into the primal forces underlying these reactions—particularly fear—and how such emotions can shape our politics and our relationships. Join us as we navigate one chapter each week, discussing how fear, anger, envy, and hope have fueled recent divisions and exploring Nussbaum’s insights on moving toward a more compassionate, resilient society.
Each session will offer a space for reflection and conversation as we examine Nussbaum's arguments and consider how empathy and bridge-building can help counteract the forces that deepen divides. Whether you’re new to Nussbaum or familiar with her work, this series invites you to explore how we can navigate today’s challenges with a greater sense of understanding and common purpose.
