What we’re about
50+ Ski with Us, sponsored by Vail Resorts, was a very popular seniors group skiing program at Breckenridge and Keystone for many years. Due to Covid restrictions, it was discontinued in 2020 and VR currently has no plans for its official return.
That same year the Summit 50+ Ski with Us Meetup group was formed to provide an independent platform for our passionate ski community to continue to get together and have fun skiing and riding together on our own. It was, and is, our mission to duplicate the traditional experience as much as possible. We are very proud that we were not only able to accomplish this goal as an independent club, but we were soon asked to enter into a local community partnership.
As of the 2024-25 season we became officially sponsored as the Alpine Ski Group of Summit County Senior Citizens Inc, also known as Summit 50 Plus.
What does all this mean? Well, to join this Meetup group is free, but to ski with us, you must now become a member of the Summit Senior Center / Summit 50Plus**. This requires logging on to their website and paying a $20 annual membership. No other dues or fees are required.
There are many year-around benefits that come with your membership, but if you are unable to take advantage, just consider it the minimal fee to join our group. What a great deal!
BTW, if you're new and would like to just check us out, please feel free to show up and enjoy a day of skiing with us for free as our guest! We're confident you'll want to join...
Following tradition, we have regular weekly ski day get-togethers at both Breckenridge and Keystone plus occasional pick-up days at other resorts and other miscellaneous events throughout the year.
This group is intended for skiers and riders of STRONG INTERMEDIATE BLUE LEVEL and above. If you have a question regarding your ability level, please approach any group leader.
Each morning we will meet for an indoor informational meeting before heading out to the lift. At the top of the lift, we will gather again to formally break up into smaller groups according to ability level and type of skiing or terrain desired. We will try to provide one or more experienced and knowledgeable leaders for each group. If enough leaders are not available, you may need to just ski as a group on your own.
Our group member's children and guests of age 21 and older are always welcome on an occasional basis.
We like to take a lot of photos and videos and share them on our Facebook Group page. By joining, you give consent to share any photos or videos that you may be in on social media.
The consumption of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited before or during any of our outdoor activity events.
You must verify that you are physically fit, have sufficiently prepared for this activity, and have not been advised to not participate by a qualified medical professional for any health-related reasons.
Our leaders are not guides, but merely facilitators of group skiing. We are not trained professionals and receive no compensation in any form. Breckenridge and Keystone both have potentially dangerous and hazardous terrain. You are ultimately responsible to make your own decisions based on your own judgement regarding your personal limits and safety.
Please familiarize yourself with the Skier Responsibility Code as outlined in the Colorado Skier Safety Act (link below) and our Group Safety Protocols.
SKIER RESPONSIBILITY CODE
SUMMIT 50+ Ski with Us SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

- Morning briefing emphasizes personal assumed risk and need to realistically assess self limitations.

- Members of groups intending to ski advanced terrain are highly encouraged to have emergency whistles and charged cell phones set to GPS.
- We emphasize use of “one click” emergency Ski Patrol contact available with EPIC App.

*THE WILLFULL DISREGARD OR FAILURE TO FOLLOW OR ADHERE TO ANY OR ALL OF THE ABOVE RULES OR STIPULATIONS IMMEDIATELY RENDERS YOU AS A NONMEMBER OF OUR GROUP.
