Matt Torbin on Cultivating the Hacker Mentality in your Product & Dev Teams

Details
It’s nearly impossible to build a reasonably secure application without knowing what you're supposed to protect against. With the breakneck speed at which the state of security evolving coupled with the severe drought of available security talent and the increasing demand of core secops teams, our industry’s situation has become critical.
In an ideal world, a team of security specialists would be injected into each development team to help with this effort. Unfortunately, that isn’t practical anymore. The need to generate hybrid opportunities and develop the hacker mentality has never been greater than it is right now.
One of the emerging trends to solve this problem which is showing a lot of promise has been the creation of security "evangelists" and other development/secops hybrid roles within your dev team. Please join Matt Torbin for a look at this emerging trend and practical ways of driving this culture within your team.

About Matt Torbin: while currently a Principal Software Engineer and Security Evangelist at RSA, Matt has been all over the place in security, engineering and UI/UX. When he's not evangelizing the hacker mentality and not researching vulnerability mitigation techniques for the good, he tinkers with the dozens of techno toys and gadgets that he carries around in his backpack, which alone is worth a separate event.
Looking forward to a great talk and lots of learnings for PMs and Dev Engineers!
