Machapuchare: A Sacred Mountain
Unlike most Himalayan peaks, Machapuchare Peak, 6,993 meters, has never been officially climbed or summited. This is because it is considered sacred to locals and held in reverence. According to Gurung traditions, Macchapuchhre is the abode of Lord Shiva, protector of the region.

Famously called 'Fishtail' Peak or the Nepa's Matterhorn, it is one of Nepal's most iconic and enigmatic landmarks. The Fishtail name refers to the fish-tail-like shape of its twin summits. With its distinctive fishtail-shaped double-summit, Machapuchare has captivated the imagination of trekkers, climbers, and nature enthusiasts worldwide.

The Mardi Himal Trek in Nepal is a hidden gem in the Annapurna region, offering close-up, breathtaking panoramic views of Mardi Himal, Machapuchare (Fishtail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. This 5-day shortened hike is moderate, and a less-crowded trek passes through rhododendron forests, traditional villages, and high-altitude pastures. The trek is highly regarded for its diverse, relatively short, and scenic route, taking hikers through lush, quiet forests before opening up to dramatic, high-mountain scenery. The trail is less crowded than the nearby Annapurna Base Camp, offering a quieter, more serene experience.

  • Key Highlights: Stunning, close-up, 360-degree views of the Annapurna massif.
  • Altitude: Reaches around 4,500m (14,764 ft) at Base Camp. We will only trek to Mardi Himal lower base camp at 4,250 m.
  • Experience: Less crowded than the nearby Annapurna Base Camp, offering a quieter, more serene experience.

Who's suitable?
This is a relatively moderate trek suitable for both experienced trekkers and active beginners looking for a moderately challenging yet rewarding adventure, & Majestive snow cap peaks in the stunning Annapurna region of Nepal. 👉 Our photos from the last trek are proof. [See below] 👈

Need any domestic flights?
Yes & No. We will need to drive 6 - 8 hours from Kathmandu to Pokhara. We can drive back the same long & tiring route. But for once, let's take a short 30-minute flight with glorious views of the Himalayas and reach Kathmandu in good time & have a good rest before the next day's flight home?

How to prepare for this trek?
You should be physically and emotionally prepared to attain height and daily distance. A few weeks before the walk, jogging, running, swimming, and leg exercises would be excellent physical training to prepare yourself for the trek.
