dbt Meetups are networking events open to all folks working with data! Talks predominantly focus on community members' experience with dbt, however, you'll catch presentations on broader topics such as analytics engineering, data stacks, data ops, modeling, testing, and team structures.

1) Building and analysing a structured dataset of Singapore's parliamentary speeches - Parleh-Mate

• Speaker(s): Jeremy Chia (Linkedin), Royce Hoe (Linkedin)
• Synopsis: Parleh-Mate started as a personal project between three friends - an attempt to make Singapore's parliamentary speeches easier to explore and analyse. Along the way, they built a stack with dbt, Python, LLM, and Redner, turning raw transcripts into structured data for analysis. Royce and Jeremy will walk through how the project came together: from data extraction and cleaning, to modelling with dbt, and others. They'll also share lessons learned from running a personal project, and how the small project engaged researchers and the public.

2) Introduction to dbt Fusion

• Synopsis: Join us for an exciting peek into dbt Fusion, the new dbt engine announced by dbt Labs. We'll explore the core concepts, understand the rationale driving this major advancement, and witness a demo comparing Fusion's performance against traditional dbt Core.
