Talk:
Scaling Machine Learning workflows with Kafka and Flink

Abstract:
Scaling machine learning (ML) workflows requires efficient, real-time data streaming and processing. This talk explores how Apache Kafka and Apache Flink power scalable ML pipelines, enabling real-time data ingestion, transformation, and model updates. We discuss their role in fraud detection, predictive maintenance, and personalization, where low-latency decisions are crucial. The session also covers best practices to optimize processing efficiency and scalability in production environments. Attendees will gain insights into designing robust, high-performance ML architectures using Kafka and Flink, ensuring seamless integration and real-time decision-making for modern AI-driven applications.

Bio:
Brindha Priyadarshini Jeyaraman, Principal Architect in AI at Google Cloud APAC, specializes in building advanced machine learning solutions machine learning, cloud technologies, and software development with over 14 years of experience. She holds a Master's Knowledge Engineering from the National University of Singapore, where she received a gold medal and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Engineering degree in AI at SMU. She has authored books on observability in finance, real-time streaming and machine learning, showcasing her deep knowledge in these fields.

Talk:
Adopting Kafka as a Service: Considerations from the Platform Perspective

Abstract:
As organizations increase their adoption of Kafka, providing a centralized Kafka Platform is an attractive option in terms of cost effectiveness and manageability. In this session, we discuss the potential considerations around adopting Kafka as a Service, from planning and design to deployment and Day 2 operations. We include examples from a real-world deployment in a financial institution.

Bio:
Jun Wei is currently Staff Solutions Architect with the Professional Services team at Confluent. In his day-to-day work, he helps organizations design and deploy Kafka clusters to support business domains such as banking and finance, government, telecommunications, and technology. Previously, he has held various roles with Alibaba Cloud, Surbana Technologies, and the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), Singapore.

A geek at heart, Jun Wei is a proud father of two and spends most of his free time playing video and board games with them.
