Talk:
Building Streaming Data Pipelines with Flink and Kafka

Abstract:
In this talk we will discuss how we built a robust real time data pipeline, leveraging on Kafka and Flink, to support analytics-driven solutions for advertising at Rakuten. We will dive into some notable features we developed in response to the requirements and challenges we faced. Finally, we will discuss our monitoring setup that helps us ensure timely delivery of quality data.

Bio:
Kunal is Senior Software Engineer with over 10 years of experience in data engineering, specializing in developing solutions that enhance data processing and analysis. His work involves experimenting with modern technologies to solve complex problems and improve software engineering processes. He has worked in many domains including banking, healthcare and e-commerce and is enthusiantic about exploring new technologies and methodologies to bring efficiency across different fields.

Rahul is a Software Engineer working on building robust data pipelines and analytics solutions. Relatively new to data engineering, he has quickly picked up working experience with various big-data technologies like Apache Flink, Spark and Kafka. He has a keen interest in distributed and parallel computing and technologies built for scale, including real time streaming and event-driven architectures.

As a Java Champion and a respected speaker, Viktor is renowned for his insightful presentations at major industry events. He has co-authored books on enterprise web development and Apache Kafka®.
