Speaker:
🎤 Ilya Verbitskiy, Solution Architect
Talk Topic: Unlocking the Power of Graph Databases with Neo4j
Talk Description: Graph databases are revolutionizing the way we store, analyze, and interact with connected data. Unlike traditional relational databases, graph databases like Neo4j provide an intuitive, efficient, and flexible way to model relationships, making them essential for applications like recommendation engines, social networks, fraud detection, and more.
In this workshop, we will explore Neo4j, the world’s leading graph database platform, and dive into its robust features and capabilities. Whether you're new to graph databases or seeking to deepen your knowledge, this workshop will equip you with the skills to leverage Neo4j for your projects.
Speaker Bio: As a solution architect in the finance and e-commerce sectors, Ilya gained over 20 years of experience developing complex software in teams, large and small. Before starting his business, he worked for several multinational companies in Europe, Southeast Asia, and North America.
Ilya Verbitskiy is a solution architect who helps DBS scale up its workloads in the cloud. His fields of interest include cloud-native solutions, high-load architectures, and information security. Outside of work, he's a husband and father and enjoys sports, games, and learning everything about everything.
🎤 Kenneth Leung, Senior Data Scientist, Boston Consulting Group
Talk Topic: Bridging Natural Language and Databases: A Knowledge Graph Approach to Text-to-SQL
Talk Description: How can we turn natural language into precise, syntactically correct SQL queries—especially in complex, domain-specific environments? In this talk, Kenneth Leung (Senior Data Scientist at BCG) explores how knowledge graphs can serve as a powerful semantic layer for enhancing text-to-SQL systems.
By using Neo4j and incorporating insights from domain experts, we can transform SQL database metadata into a structured ontology—representing tables, columns, and domain concepts as graph nodes. These graphs capture relationships like foreign keys, synonyms, and contextual terms, enabling intelligent disambiguation and mapping of user queries.
Kenneth will walk through a GraphRAG-powered approach to retrieval and reasoning, where graph traversal is used to find relevant entities, which are then fed into LLMs to generate accurate SQL. The result is a robust, explainable, and adaptable pipeline for natural language interfaces to databases—grounded in both graph theory and cutting-edge AI.
Speaker Bio: Kenneth is a Senior Data Scientist at BCG, with expertise in designing and delivering AI solutions across banking, insurance, manufacturing, and healthcare. He collaborates closely with clients to translate business needs into actionable AI solutions, identify high-impact opportunities, build machine learning models, and embed AI into core business processes.
At BCG, he has led and supported projects across Asia-Pacific, helping organizations tackle complex business challenges by turning strategy into execution. His work covers the full AI lifecycle—from developing predictive models and GenAI applications to setting up MLOps pipelines and guiding teams on best practices in data science and engineering.
Outside of his work, he is a leading tech author, and a licensed pharmacist in both Singapore and Hong Kong.
