It is time for new friends (and for older ones too!). Come and join us for an evening of casual socialising where ISABEL (female organiser and host for the evening) will not only welcome you to the group but also introduce you to some of the ladies and gents who attend. Make it relatively effortless to meet new people!

I just want to highlight that while we are an Expat focused group we welcome Singaporeans.

Absolutely no reason why you should spend your Wednesday evening at home or worse in the office!! Please come and join us for a fun night with other internationally minded locals and expats in Singapore.

This time we have arranged for a great night of networking, socializing and partying at the stunning HI-SO Rooftop Pool Bar at SO Sofitel Singapore. (Please google venue as the meetup map is normally incorrect).

As usual if you are early enough you will be introduced to other attendees and so there is absolutely no excuse. Additionally we will also invite members of other Expats Club meetup groups in the city and so you will meet a lot of new people.

You should come to our socials because

1. We never post false RSVPs and numbers as attending the socials of our groups. The number of RSVPs and guests you see for our socials are RSVPs from members of this meetup group and members of our other meetup groups in the city who have RSVPed to attend the social. We do not mislead you.

2. Some other groups in the city suggest that they have 200+ RSVPs for their socials and when you actually attend you find that there are only 30 people. They never have real photos and never any member comments or reviews. We do not mislead you with any of these. We have real photos and real numbers.

3. Our socials are organised in Singapore by us, Alexandra and Isabel who are both expats from Germany and a long term residents of Singapore. Our emphasis is on quality of people over quantity. We also have smaller groups of 20 to 40 people for a good reason. Everyone enjoys it more! Large groups are overwhelming.

4. We always host events and not just sell tickets. Our hosts actually welcome you and introduce you to others. There is no board carrying person or check in table or name stickers etc and no queueing to socialise with us.

5. We always welcome members and introduce you to other members. You will never be alone in our event. We also control our membership and anyone who misbehaves, is drunk or is disorderly is turned away and removed from our groups.

6. Our events have internationally minded, well travelled and secular locals as well as internationally minded expats. You always meet people of different languages, cultures and backgrounds. You will always benefit in addition to making new friends.

Top Tips on making the best of our Meetups

1. Do not be shy: Everyone who attends meetups have to overcome this fear. Almost everyone who attends actually comes alone. Bring a friend if it makes it easier for you. Please remember that the organisers are there to help you socialise and so go meet them as soon as you come to an event. We will look after you the best we can.

2. Be friendly and welcoming. Meetups are social occasions. If you attend, make the effort to talk to different people, not just people you already know. Make a special effort to welcome newcomers and involve them in the meetup.

3. Attend a few meetups before you decide whether they work for you. The people at every meetup social are different as is the venue, environment, energy etc. One meetup is never like another. Attend at least 3 of them before you decide to become a life long member or stop attending.

4. Don’t just turn up, take part. Meetups work best when everyone participates actively, not just the organisers or old members. Come with a positive mind and cheerful, meet lots of people and involve others. Do not sit in a corner or look at your mobile.

5. Spread the word. If you’ve enjoyed a meetup, don’t keep it to yourself. Tell people you think might benefit. Share links on social media. Blog about your experiences and what you’ve learned and gained. New members are the life blood of the group.

6. Comment, review and feedback: This is a community and it requires both online and offline engagement with other members as well as the organisers. You are invited to provide constructive feedback on the forums. If you want to complain or have a suggestion then that is best done through email or mobile directly to the organisers.
