snowshoeing, and Cross Country skiing

Thank everyone who responded to the snowshoeing and cross country skiing e-mail.  I will post a meet-up and I will do it for a Saturday since everyone is avaliable on a Saturday.  I think the best I can do is a one week notice since I need to go by what the weather person says.  The first meet-up will be a snowshoe trip and then we go from there.  Hurricane Ridge is closed during the week, so it will be Saturday trip to there.  If the weather has been bad, the road from Longmire to Paradise can be closed and then open on Saturday after it has been plowed.  There are a few place to go to before Longmire.  There is also Crystal Mt.    I think Janurary might be the first trip.  If there are two cars going, it would be a good idea that the second car has four wheel drive.  Also, the National Parks charge to get in and if we go to a ski park it is about $22 a car.  And don't forget to pay for gas.     I like cross country skiing, so anyone who wants to go let  me know.  There is also the bus during the week.

Where ever we go, from Port Orchard  it take about two or two and a half hours.  If we go to the cascades, we would meet at Albertsons in Port Orchard.  If we go to Hurricane Ridge, the Port Orchard people need to meet at Albertsons.  We could then meet others at the Blood Bank, and then for those farther north, meet someplace in Poulsbo.  There are places to rent equipment.   Please have the proper cloths to dress warmly and please have "good", warm gloves.  You also need water tight and warm shoes for snowshoeing.  A water proof poncho is also advised.  A  small back pack is advised to carry you lunch in and any extra clothing you might want.  Remember, the mountain are a lot colder then down "here".  It can start to snow or rain without notice.  Snowshoeing is like walking in great big extra large shoes.   You also need poles which can be rented.  Any guest are welcome.  Lets have snow fun this winter.  Hope to see everyone.
