What we’re about
Are you tired of doing things alone? Do you love doing things outdoors? Hiking, walking, dining, all sorts of things!! Are you age 50 plus? We are a four-season group focusing on outdoor events in a relaxed setting, a group that is welcoming and warm. Many wonderful friendships have grown over time among our members. Many of our activities are focusing on dining and hiking right now, but there are other things to have fun with.
I am limiting group sizes for many events these days. Sorry!!! For hikes I will need to know your recent hiking experience before moving you to the Yes list. If this doesn't work for you there are other groups taking more new people on events. Sorry, a result for me of Covid.
Join with like-minded singles looking for fun and friendship. Our main focus is adults having fun together with no dating pressure. If you are looking for a dating site this is not it.
I'm really looking forward to getting outdoors as much as possible, and have lots of cool outdoor things to do. We will also occasionally enjoy indoor activities (mainly during the winter), like bowling.
This group is open to all single people, dating people (see note below), and happy dogs of such people. Activities are for adults only. This group is not for people in committed relationships or married people. If you meet someone in the group that is different.
For those in dating relationships, one aspect of our group is to be a safe haven for people who are surrounded by a world that sometimes seems to be Couples Only, please don't bring a date.
IMPORTANT: New people: Your RSVP is very important to me. If you cannot make an event that you have signed up for, PLEASE change your RSVP. If you no-show I will remove you from the group. Sorry, if you sign up please show up. :-)
All events are at your own risk. Please read the Liability Waiver on the Pages tab. Please bring your sense of adventure to participate. Most events carry a $2 Meetup fee. Please send me your cell number, I'll return with mine. For friends with kayaks, check out my other group, Newburgh Area Kayakers. :-)

- Giant Stairs/Long Path Loop, A Wonderful Scramble!!!Lookout Inn State Line Lookout Alpine, NJ, alpine, NJ
Here is a very cool hike, a wonderful scramble, a hike that is for the experienced hikers/scramblers only. There is a mile of rocky adventure which is not for beginners or those with improper footwear. So....experienced hikers only please. It is billed as 4 hours, 4.5 miles, STRENUOUS by NYNJTC. This is one of my favorites.
There is significant continuous ascent and decent involved. Feel free to contact me if you are wondering if you are good to do this if you have hiked with me.
From their description: This loop hike descends the Palisades cliffs, follows a challenging, rocky path along the Hudson River, passes a scenic waterfall, and climbs to reach a panoramic viewpoint over the river.
Scrambling is tricky stuff and sure footing is necessary for this. Please don't sign up if you've never hiked or scrambled before.
Bring: Snacks, water, change of shirt/shoes, first aid kit, camera. Hiking shoes/boots mandatory. You may want grippy garden gloves for scrambling.
We will follow the NYNJTC trip description for this at http://nynjtc.org/hike/giant-stairslong-path-loop-state-line-lookout
GPS coordinates for the State Line Lookout 40.988702,-73.907154.
Driving directions: If you are coming from the north on the Palisades Parkway, bear left just beyond Exit 3 and follow the signs for the State Line Lookout. Follow the access road for about half a mile until it ends at a large parking lot near the lookout.
From the south take the Palisades Interstate Park north from the George Washington Bridge. Continue for 1.7 miles beyond Exit 2, and turn right at a sign for the State Line Lookout.
We will likely dine afterwards.
By signing up for or attending this event, you certify that you have read, understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the Orange County Outdoor Singles Liability Waiver (See "Liability Waiver" under the "Pages" tab above).
$2 Meetup fee up to 30 events, $1 after. WET ROCKS will very likely postpone things. Rain will definitely postpone. Check your emails for changes. I will post changes by 7am. Please send me your cell if I don't have it, I will return with mine. Happy scrambling!!!
