HIKE: Bear Hair Trail, Vogel State Park 5-6 miles
Details
This will be an intermediate/moderate hike of the Bear Hair trail route that begins at the Backcountry Trailhead in Vogel State Park. The hike climbs from the trailhead, rising over a series of rustic wooden stairs and passing a wooden overlook, while following a green trail blazes through stands of hemlock and passing through thickets of dense rhododendron; beginning the loop portion of the Bear Hair trail, this route stays to the left of the Coosa trail, we continuing an ascend until the trail bears left and levels out, then we make a series of left turns to complete the loop just around 4.1 mile back to the beginning of the trailhead and 0.8 miles back to the visitors center. The loop moves up and over the lower ridges of Blood Mountain.
Bring snacks and water for the hike. We can go to lunch after if anyone is interested...
