HIKE: Blood Mountain via Lake Winfield Scott 7 miles

Details
Let's revisit this most spectacular spot. This is my planned resting spot. Bring lunch to eat at the rock at the top.
When you RSVP let me know if you are meeting the carpool or driving direct to the trailhead.
Have you wanted to hike on the Appalachian Trail (AT). Is Blood Mountain your dream...well it is for someone on this hike. This is your chance to experience the legendary Blood Mountain and the Georgia AT in the easiest way possible. We will hike Slaughter Gap Trail to the AT to Blood Mt and then back through Jarrad Gap.
We will stay together as a group. If you are a super speed hiker and have gone to Blood Mt via the harder trails like (Freeman Trail), this may be too easy for you. This is the chance for people who thought they couldn't do it, to be able to do it. If you have hiked any of the CRNRA trails in Atlanta, you are qualified to do this trail. We will start at the Slaughter Gap trailhead to the AT and to Blood Mt. We will then reverse on the AT and follow it a longer period to the Jarrard Gap Trail. There is a 1863' elevations gain.
If it is very crowded at the top (lunch zone) we will a spend little time here and find a less crowded place to have lunch.
Coordinates of Slaughter Gap Trail 34.73741, -83.97404
Coordinates Lake Winfield Scott: 34.7392585 (North), -83.8879638 (West)
Carpool location is GA-400 Exit 8 and Mansell Road Marta Park and Ride. Look it up if you don't know where it is. It is on south side of Mansell on west side of 400. If you are directionally challenged I cannot help you. I do not have an address. I am not going to spoon feed you. Look it up on youtube on how to read a coordinate.
