Come get some morning fitness with 7 miles and over Kennesaw Mountain (one time). This is not a beginner hike. We go up and over and then around.
We are STARTING AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE OVERFLOW PARKING LOT (because parking is easier...and we get to walk more), we will stop for a bathroom break at the visitor center (but don't park there) then going over Big and Little KM and then onto the New Salem trail (across Burnt Hickory Road) and back around the east west trail.
This is an intermediate hike. The hard part is in the beginning getting over both big and little kennesaw mountain. We will take our time. Then when we hit the flats we will pick up the pace. We will be only climbing OVER the mountains one time.
Required Items to Bring: water, Possibly rain gear, lunch or snack on the trail when we take a short break.

PARKING Fees: $5 or an annual or day pass
Kennesaw Mountain Parking Fee - Per Vehicle Daily Fee - $5.00
This fee can be paid for online at recreation.gov. The visitor center is open but this is NOT where we are meeting. Allow extra time to buy pass. Parking is VERY difficult at the visitor center.
Kennesaw Mountain Entrance Fee - Per Vehicle Annual Fee - $40.00
This fee can be paid for online at recreation.gov.
Kennesaw Mountain NBP charges for entrance to the park. This is a per vehicle entrance fee. Any vehicle parked at Kennesaw Mountain will be required to purchase a $5 daily pass online or a $40 annual pass (online or at Visitor Center). Digital passes purchased online at Recreation.gov will be tied to a specific license plate; America the Beautiful Interagency Passes are also accepted.
An America the Beautiful pass is good here but a CRNRA pass is not even though they are both federal.
How to Get There:
Event Directions: 1) I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector
- If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way. You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.
- You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it. Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.
- After crossing US 41 take a right at the first redlight which is Church Street Extension.
- You should cross railroad tracks soon.
- Take a left onto Old 41 at the second redlight. If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.
- Park in the overflow parking lot farther down the road on the left.
