You can park at the Visitors Center if they are not still working on it, but we usually park in the OVERFLOW PARKING LOT. It is about a block farther on the left. After you park it is an easy walk, but allow 10 minutes, to meet in front of the Visitor Center. There are bathrooms there also. We will start the hike promptly at 9:00, so let's meet and do introductions at 8:50. We will then take the trail over Big and Little KM, across Burnt Hickory Road, pause for a snack, and back around the East West trail.

There's a little cardio workout in the beginning, so this is considered an intermediate hike. Also, coming down the Mountain there are some rocks to maneuver, but it's manageable, and we will take our time. And we will be only climbing OVER the mountains one time.

Please bring: Plenty of water and a snack if you'd like one.

Directions: Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park
I-75 North to exit 267B Hwy 5 Canton Road Connector

  1. If you are not heading west after getting off of the Interstate you are going the wrong way. You should be heading towards US 41 and downtown Marietta after getting off of I-75 onto the Canton Road Connector and see Kennesaw Mountain on your right.
  2. You will be tempted to take the first exit off of the Canton Road Connector which is US 41, but do not take it. Proceed over US 41 on a bridge staying on the Canton Road Connector.
  3. After crossing US 41 take a right at the first red light which is Church Street Extension.
  4. You should cross railroad tracks soon.
  5. Take a left onto Old 41 at the second red light. If you get to US 41 again, you have missed the turn onto Old 41 so turn around.
  6. Park in the overflow parking lot farther down the road on the left.
