HIKE: THE NEW Island Ford : start time 8:30AM

Due to trail maintenance at IF tomorrow morning with 50 people descending on the first 2 parking lots at 9am....we need to start at 8:30 to get the parking spots.
We also have to save these spots for the workers and we need to park at the visitor center.
Island Ford is now open and will be the rage. All the trails are new and you won't recognize it. We will meet at the visitors center parking lot where there are bathrooms. We are trying to do 5.5 miles and if we do not succeed, oh well, We will walk the Beech Creek Loop (purple) and the Inner Loop (green). And maybe some of the blue trail. We may have to retrace our steps if we are "lost". They have maps at the visitor center. We will also walk upon the Riverwalk, which is the original trail.****.
Island Ford features an updated and newly signed trail network following the completion of the Island Ford Trail Project. The newly designed system features official trail names, new map posts, wayfinding signs, and a new one-mile Pond Loop.
There is a restroom at the visitor center. Parking will be tight on a Sat am. Arrive 15 min early. You can buy parking pass and annual pass or America the beautiful Pass (62+) at the visitor center which opens at 9am.
Parking $5 or purchase a CRNRA annual pass at the visitor center.
