We’re rolling out bright and early to pack a whole lot of wildlife wonder 🦒 and country-town charm 📜 into one fun-filled day together!
Meet-up points: Eagleby - Beenleigh Station - Redbank Station (meet times listed further below) You don't drive - enjoy the Ride 🚐

Morning - Darling Downs Zoo 🐼
On a past meetup, we were blown away by the zoo's thoughtful layout and passionate staff, so I'm keen to share the same wow-factor experience again! Our visit is fully guided, meaning we can simply relax and soak up every story our expert guide shares.
Together we'll wander the four geographic zones - Africa, South America, South-East Asia and Australia - meeting white lions, giraffes 🦒, playful meerkats, a pygmy hippo, cheeky monkeys 🐒, rainbow macaws 🦜 and more.
Handlers also roam the grounds with a friendly python and a baby alligator we're welcome to (gently!) touch - perfect for that extra photo-op.
Travelling as a team means you'll have someone happy to take your pic - no selfie stick required.

Picnic Lunch 🧺
Around noon we'll gather under the shady trees for a relaxed group picnic. I'll bring along a tasty picnic spread for us all to share - just pop your favourite reusable cup in your daypack and bring a healthy appetite.

Afternoon - Historic Rudd's Pub, Nobby 🍺
After one last look at the baboons 🐵 and Aldabra giant tortoises 🐢, a short country drive brings us to Rudd’s Pub. Pouring beers since 1893, it was renamed in honour of local author Steele Rudd (Arthur Hoey Davis), who is said to have scribbled some Dad ’n’ Dave tales in the very room we’ll step into. We’ll browse walls lined with memorabilia, share a refreshing drink, and soak up yarns of shearers, drovers and bush poets that still echo through the timber floors.

- Picnic-style lunch to share under the zoo trees plus a fresh zoo-cafe coffee at midday ☕

Good to know: Walking surfaces: paved, gravel & natural paths with gentle inclines and occasional uneven spots - closed-toe shoes please.
Pace & distance: about 2-2.5 hours on foot, broken up by regular animal chats and shade breaks.

6.45 am @ Eagleby private residence for off-street parking (please have $7 ready for our kind resident/member for off-street parking)
6.55 am @ Beenleigh Train Station
7.30 am @ Redbank Train Station (handy for north-siders on our west-bound trips)
- Return timing: Redbank about 4.15pm, Eagleby/Beenleigh roughly 5pm

.. As with all our adventures, No Smoking/Vapour and No Mobile phoning/texting/it while in company as is considered discourteous
.. Please bring all medications which you would normally take at home
.. If you are prone to Motion/Sea sickness, please bring appropriate medication with you

.. Failure to arrive on time will void the ticket entirely with no refunds
.. Bookings close 13 August 2025, or when minimum 8 RSVPs are claimed, whichever comes first
.. Minimum attendees = 8; Maximum attendees = 11
.. If minimum RSVPs are not attained by closing date 13 August 2025, a full refund is provided

.. If you cancel after bookings close, I will endeavour to sell your ticket for you, but no guarantees
.. Reselling tickets is a courtesy, not an entitlement

.. In the event of any changes or amendments to the adventure or itinerary, or reallocation of hosts, there are no refunds.

.. In the very rare event that a member's behaviour is significantly disruptive and impacts the group's experience, the host reserves the right to discontinue that member's participation in the tour. This includes any unused portions of the ticket, such as return transportation. Unfortunately, no refunds will be provided in these instances, and the member will be responsible for their own return arrangements and associated costs.
