The hike will begin at the Wild Basin Trailhead and this is where we will start. Please arrive a few minutes early (we're starting at 7am) so that we can start on time. Since we are starting before 9am, we will not need a timed reservation to enter.

We will pass three waterfalls on our way to Lake Ouzel. Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascade and Ouzel Falls. We can actually walk behind Ouzel Falls.

Notes for walking behind Ouzel Falls:

  • Not an official trail:
The path to the base of Ouzel Falls is not a designated, maintained trail. It's more of a natural path that hikers have created over time.
  • Adventurous and sure-footed:
This path is rocky, muddy, and has many fallen trees and other obstacles. It's best suited for experienced hikers who are comfortable navigating uneven terrain.
  • Slippery rocks:
Be especially careful on the rocks, as they can be very slippery when wet.
  • Strong water:
Be aware that the water at Ouzel Falls can be stronger and faster than it appears.

Please bring your 10 hiking essentials and spikes, there is still snow and/or ice! Also, don't forget snacks and your favorite drink. Most of all, bring plenty of water and appropriate gear for the trail. We're starting early and this is considered a strenuous hike.

Disclaimer: Hiking is risky. We are not professional guides. By RSVPing "Yes", you confirm that you are responsible for your own safety.
