Learn the Carolina Shag!

Join the fun as we learn the Carolina Shag dance! Think swing or jitterbug but smoother, more open. Bring a significant other, friend or bestie to this one, if you can! If not, we’ll partner up on site. Your host is Sixty Sisters founder, Lorraine Russell, in collaboration with The Carolina Shag Club.

During the day, 60S Olli will host a guest lecturer from The Carolina Shag Club to explain the history behind SC’s favorite and official dance style. (You must be registered at Olli to attend the lecture.)

The evening Meetup event starts with a beginner’s dance lesson at 6:00 p.m. You/we are all welcome to stay for their regular weekly open dance afterwards. Starting at 7pm: Happy Hour drinks & light appetizers, followed by a DJ spinning dance tunes until 10pm! It’s okay if you need to do an “Irish goodbye” earlier, or make a night of it! 😉

It is IMPORTANT to RSVP so enough instructors are available. When you register, you will be charged a non-refundable $10 fee for the lesson. Meetup will add a small administrative charge. You must pay to hold your lesson reservation.

We are making the payment non-refundable to discourage last minute cancellations. If you do not have Paypal, message Lorraine directly for other payment app options. All fees collected will be pre-paid by Lorraine to The Carolina Shag Club. There is no extra charge for the open dance afterwards, once you pay for your lesson.

Please note, rsvps will close early on Monday instead of the day before. For this extra special event, we’re opening rsvps 2 weeks ahead instead of 1 week. Please cancel on the app if you must so another sister can attend.
