At the time of the event, please follow the following link to join the video call...
Note that this not the same Google Meet link as we usually use.
I will maintain and display a list of approximately when each of us will sing.
One or two songs ahead of the time that you will sing, please open a different tab than the Google Meet tab, and go to Youtube, and bring up a karaoke video of the song you wish to sing. Pause it, and drag the play position back to zero.
When your time to sing comes, make sure that you are not muted. In the Google Meet tab, click on "Present now" in the lower left corner of the screen. Then click on "A tab". Now select the YouTube tab in the list of tabs, and click on "Share". Click on the play triangle in YouTube.
When you are done singing, click on "Stop presenting".
Obviously, if you are accompanying yourself with an instrument, like a guitar, you will not need to use "Present now" at all, and the same is true if your act is not singing, like a joke or a story. You also do not need to use "Present now" if you are playing your accompaniment on a second device.
If your accompaniment is in an MP4 file, or an MP3 file, you can drag and drop it onto your browser and it will open in a tab. Then you can follow the exact same instructions for a YouTube video.
I am looking forward to seeing and hearing us!
This will be fun!
Listen up everyone... In order for this to work, we need to mobilise all of our feet to head to Silver Springs.
Here is the concept. We pick a bar that has an open genre jam session. We pick a specific day. If we all converge on that bar, on that day, it will become, de facto, a ska music jam.
So, here's what we do. We contact all the musicians, professional, or amateur, in Calgary, that we know that play ska music. we all go to Silver Point Pub for their open genre jam on Tuesday, August 27th.
