This will be a casual first event to meet the other brave souls (ahem... I mean skaters) who came to our first skate. At 9:30 AM we will do a "pre-roll" around the paths of India Point Park for beginners to get a feel for varied terrain and to warm up before we roll out for a skate into the city at 10:00 AM.

Planned city skate route: We will stick primarily to bike paths and bike lanes with some sidewalk, brick, and street skating. This is a favorite route of mine for a great flavor of PVD. We will head up the winding ramp and cross the India Point Park Bridge into Fox Point. After a left and a short road skate, we will hit the smooth new asphalt path behind Tempo & Tandem. From there, we will cross Wickenden, head over the Point St Bridge, turn right on Eddy, and roll into the Innovation District. Our goal is the Providence Public Library, then onto Burnside Park for a quick break. Finally, we will take Exchange Terrace across the river and a right to go along the water as we make our way back toward India Point. There is a skate park along the way if you are inclined and we will have options to shorten or lengthen the route if we want, including an optional add-on skate on the bike path after we get to India Point Park for anyone feeling energetic. We will skate between 6–8 miles, largely dependent on how the group is feeling, and will be back to India Point Park by 11 AM.

This is definitely a "no-drop" skate and is all for fun, so we will wait for slower skaters.

Helmets and wrist guards are highly recommended. Knee pads are also a great idea.
