What we’re about
The Center for Inquiry is a transnational organziation whose purpose is to promote and defend reason, science, and freedom of inquiry in all areas of human endeavor. It encourages evidence-based inquiry into science, pseudoscience, medicine and health, religion, ethics, secularism, and society. The San Francisco Center for Inquiry engages the local community in support of those aims by sponsoring events and providing outreach. Our website is http://centerforinquiry.net/sf Events that may be of interest to memebers are listed at http://www.bayareascience.org/
The meetup also lists events that we do not sponsor but that we believe are of interest to our members.
The email of this meetup is intended primarily for announcements. Discussions are allowed, but in order to keep the amount of traffic reasonable for people who are only interested in announcement, if these seem to be getting protracted, I will request that they be continued at the meetup message board. Click on "Discussions" in the banner at the top of the group's page (in the format) to get to it.

See all- California Freethought Day 2025California State Capitol Building, Sacramento, CA
California Freethought Day combines the fun and atmosphere of a fair with the education and activism of a conference. It's a festival of freethought.
Our theme this year is “One Nation, Indivisible: Liberty and Justice for All” as we explore the current administration’s growing attack on marginalized communities and the rise of Christian Nationalism.
Join us at our free event to celebrate freedom of speech and thought, civic engagement, enthusiasm for science, social justice, and the separation of church and state.
Our event will be outdoors at the California State Capitol Building and livestreamed via Facebook, YouTube, and X.
