Salt Lake Oasis Weekly Gathering - Talks, Music, and Great Conversation
Details
Come be part of a community of individuals and families who value people more than beliefs. Some have said it's like going to a Ted talk with live music every Sunday. We meet at 11 AM Mountain Time in the Parker Theatre Studio at 3601 State Street, South Salt Lake. We would love to have you join us for some great topics and socializing!
We certainly hope you will join us this Sunday to hear from Matt Warner on the topic of:
The Simple Chemistry Behind Climate Change
Matt Warner was born and raised in both the Philadelphia and Dutch regions of Pennsylvania. When he was 10 ½ years old, his immediate family then moved to Waxhaw, a town south of Charlotte in North Carolina where he finished growing up. Motivated to help address climate change, he went and earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in energy at the University of South Carolina. There, he dabbled in electrochemistry and was developing a technology that could generate hydrogen from water and sunlight. Then, he went and got a PhD in Chemical Engineering with a concentration in polymer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He then became a postdoctoral researcher at Sandia National Labs in New Mexico where he worked on the plastics waste problem. No longer wanting to pursue an academic career, he then moved here to Utah in April of 2024 and became an industrial research chemist. He is currently developing new formulations for next generation of carbon fiber composites. When he is not inventing new products, you could find him hiking, skiing, training Krav Maga, playing rock and metal guitar, singing into a Beltbox, listening to music, studying anything that grabs his interest, or either enjoying a beer or game with good company.
Young adults are invited to an activity after the meeting--see Lydia!
The kids will be working on a service project (see attached flyer for details)
