Sunday Sketchin' - Community Gardens @ Emerson Park

Let's get our sketch on! This group was founded to build community, and what better place to do that then a community garden. Join our guest host Laurie at Emerson Park in Downtown SLO as she leads a session sure to be filled with early summer color and fine weather.

Plan to meet at the edge of the garden next to parking lot off Nipomo.

Fine print: Typically, we get two sketches in per event. Plan for about 30-40 mins per session – this gives us the ability to draw the same space from different angles or pick up and walk to another nearby spot to keep things fresh and interesting. Before, between, and after sessions, we'll do a quick group introduction/share of what we created - in order to support and inspire each other while reinforcing the communal aspects of the group.

Things to consider before joining session:

• Skill level: All ages and abilities welcome. No sketching experience needed. This is a non-judgemental supportive environment that encourages you to express yourself however you want. If you have any mobility considerations please let me know so we can factor that into the route/destination.
• Supplies: Be sure to bring a sketchbook and something to draw or paint with. Pro Tip: Binder clips help keep pages down in windy weather.
• Sitting: We typically sit wherever we can. On the ground, a bench (if available), on a wall. If you need it, bring something like a folding stool, towel or blanket to sit on if concerned about dirt or comfort.
• Weather: Bring a jacket as it cools off in the evening and or hat/sunscreen as we may be in direct sunlight for up to 45 mins at a time. If the weather gets real bad we can go indoors or reschedule.
• Questions & RSVP: Reach out so I can answer them. If you can't make it, be sure to update your reservation in advance so I have a good idea of final head count for planning purposes.
