Sunday Sketchin' - The Madonna Inn

Details
Let's get our Sketch on! It's been over a year since we first/last sketched the iconic Madonna Inn - a SLO Landmark. We'll start with a short tour around the exterior and then go in to see the hotel and all it's pink and cherub glory. We'll then break off as usual to find the spot to sketch that draws your eye.
We'll also be wishing one of our members, who's moving up north to Oregon, a fond farewell. Hope to see you there.
Lastly, for you math and history buffs out there, here are some numbers associated with the Inn. Come to the session to find out what they reference/mean: 1958. 110. 1994, 209.

Fine print: Typically, we get two sketches in per event. Plan for about 30-40 mins per session – this gives us the ability to draw the same space from different angles or pick up and walk to another nearby spot to keep things fresh and interesting. Before, between, and after sessions, we'll do a quick group introduction/share of what we created - in order to support and inspire each other while reinforcing the communal aspects of the group.
Things to consider before joining session:
- Skill level: All ages and abilities welcome. No sketching experience needed. This is a non-judgemental supportive environment that encourages you to express yourself however you want. If you have any mobility considerations please let me know so we can factor that into the route/destination.
- Supplies: Be sure to bring a sketchbook and something to draw with. I'll have some extra pens and watercolor kits if anyone wants to experiment or forgets something. A small shoulder bag is helpful so you're not carrying everything in your hands. (*Note that I recommend drawing in pen (mistakes are your friend!) and on a smaller sketchbook rather than a large pad given the short duration (small = fast)).
- Sitting: We typically sit wherever we can. On the ground, a bench (if available), on a wall. If you need it, bring something like a towel or blanket to sit on if concerned about dirt or comfort. (*Note we'll prioritize shady spots when we can depending on heat/sun).
- Weather: Bring a jacket as it cools off in the evening and or hat/sunscreen as we may be in direct sunlight for up to 45 mins at a time. If the weather gets real bad we can go indoors or reschedule.
- Questions & RSVP: Reach out so I can answer them. If you can't make it, be sure to update your reservation in advance so I have a good idea of final head count for planning purposes.
