Vladdy's Remote Wilderness Backpack, Vol. 14 - "A Volcano"

Details

Vladdy Says: Against the odds I will advertise this on Meetup! This is not at all for novices - only seasoned backpackers. There are no trails in the area, access is with 4x4 high clearance vehicle only.

July 26 - Aug 2, 7-8 days total. It takes 1.5 days to drive to trailhead, 4.5 days of backpacking and a day to drive back to Calgary.

There are no trails but wide open sprawling alpine wilderness will make for great backpacking. I intend to tag two summits, the highest peaks in the volcanic core. The area is not at all catered to, so don't expect urban park backpacking as in Banff or Jasper. This is for those who love true wilderness.

***Compass skills and map reading skills are essential.***
Although if I get another experienced person I'd let in less experienced ones too.

Only committed reliable backpackers please, no flakes that will cancel a week before.

Be comfortable and knowledgeable in wilderness self reliance in grizzly habitat.

Some moderate scrambling may be involved depending on which ridges we chose to pick, but overall terrain is not the harshest for this trip. Sections of bushwhacking and soggy ground are guaranteed.

Expenses will include sharing gas money, and the odd campsite along the way. I do recommend taking a hotel room for a shower and a good sleep before heading back though.

Vladdy guarantees: The place is of rare unique beauty, and I hold it in mythical regards!

Vladdy requires: No photos or routes be posted on social media, this is for the love of wilderness, not for self promotion!
