Event is now full. Let's do a hike and cheese to C-Level Cirque. We'll begin at the Upper Bankhead Picnic Area in Banff NP and gradually ascend through forest passing the historic defunct Bankhead coal operation. We'll catch a views of Lake Minnewanka on one side and the high rockbound cirque beneath the east face of Cascade Mountain. After that we'll head up the goat trail to the lookout, where views of the valley are spectacular. Pack a snack and bring something to share for lunch: such as a cheese (100gms cut up into cubes) veggies, crackers, fruit, chocolate. Arrive at 9. Hike starts at 9:15 sharp.

Distance: 10k
Elevation: around 750+ m.
Group Size: 8 - 10 Max
Trailhead: Upper Bankhead. Arrive at 9:00
Pace - relaxed and steady on the ascent, slow on the steep, moderate on the way down. We stop for layering, photos, bio breaks.
Time: 5-6 hours on the trail plus driving time. So if you are in a rush or can't stay with the group, this is not the hike for you.
THIS TRIP WILL BE WEATHER DEPENDENT so check the comments section for trip updates. If you drop out on the morning of the hike, leave a comment or send a message so I know you aren't a no show.

🌲 NOTE We offer intermediate/moderate hiking experiences to new and seasoned club members. If you want to join this hike, sign up as soon as the RSVPs open as we take people in the order they sign up (subject to their experience and skillset). Those that do not answer all the RSVP questions will remain on the waitlist. If you are on the attending list and need to drop out, do so at least 24 hours before the hike to allow those on the waitlist an opportunity to join.

As a potential participant, you must check this trip posting for additional directions from the organizer including possible short notice trip cancellation. This trip is weather dependent, so please check the website the morning of the hike to make sure the trip has not been cancelled.
CARPOOLING
Carpooling will not be arranged for this hike. However, if you wish to carpool, it is at your own discretion, and please follow the recommended Covid guidelines . Rides can be arranged in the comments section or via private personal messages. Suggested gas fee contribution is $20.00 per person. Please be considerate of your driver’s car and bring a change of shoes and a plastic bag for dirty footwear.
PARTICIPATION WAIVER
You must sign our club waiver before you are allowed to go on this trip and you shall arrive prepared with an emergency name and phone number to be recorded on the waiver. Organizer will have a group waiver for you to sign at the trailhead.
