Ellis Bird Farm: Bug Jamboree (Plus+) T1
Here is one for nature geeks. Bugs, butterflies, birds, flowers and FROGS!!! Seriously, is there anyone who does not love frog's ๐ธ ???
The Ellis Bird Farm is a tiny 10 acre reserve near Lacombe that is overflowing with many delights of nature. There are a variety of birds, a beautiful flower garden, butterflies and more. The annual bug jamboree hosts several entomologists to enlighten us on the lesser noticed world of bugs.
Note: they have added a $5.00 admission fee this year for the event, plus a gas fee of $20.00 bringing a total cost of 25 bucks.
We will meet in the Deerfoot Mall parking lot near the iFly, at 730am to arrange carpooling, then drive to and spend several hours enjoying the bird farm events. (They have a Cafe on-site, or you can also bring a lunch/snack.)
The (Plus+) part: we will take a secondary back roads convoy tour on our way home, where we will make a couple pit/photo stops enjoying the diversity of our beautiful province. One of our stops will include a mini nature hike (1-3km) along the Red Deer River.
We are so lucky to live in a province with many different ecosystems ๐ค. This will be a relaxed day of fun nature learning, mini adventuring, and hopefully finding FROGS!!!
What to bring...
-Camera
-Sunscreen
-Sunglasses
- Sun hat
- Sturdy walking shoes
- Water
-A lunch or light snack food
-Binoculars (if you have)
Cheers,
Michael JC
