Pocaterra Ridge - south to north (point to point)

Pocaterra Ridge is a beautiful and rewarding larch hike. No beginners please as our pace is a steady advanced pace, while enjoying the views and photographic moments.
There are four different peaks along Pocaterra Ridge with expansive 360 views! Once we reach the top we will enjoy the ridgewalk and soak up the spectacular scenery and views including Mist Mountain, Mount Tyrwhitt, and Mount Lipsett.
Descending from Pocaterra Ridge to Little Highwood Pass is fairly straightforward (north finish point). This trail can be a bit tricky with loose rocks and gravel. We will continue on a well-defined trail through the forest and down to Highway 40.

• Distance: approx. ~10 km (point to point)
• Elevation gain: ~ 760m
• Difficulty: moderate/hard
• Number of hikers: approx. 8 (advanced pace, no beginners)

If you sign up, but cannot attend, please remove your name from the list by 10am Monday. If you cancel anytime after 10:00am Monday or don’t show up (without contacting me) you will be marked as a “no show”. This is visible to other organizers and may affect your chances of attending other hikes.

Waitlist
A waiting list has automatically been created to determine this trip’s suitability for you as a potential participant. You must meet all the prerequisites to be eligible to attend this trip. If the organizer deems it necessary to obtain additional information from you, please provide it, otherwise, you will remain on the waiting list.

Meet up time and location:
7:30am Shouldice Park and Ride lot
We will carpool from here. To get to Shouldice Park and Ride lot, go past the arena and to the very end of the road. There is a gravel parking lot.

Drivers: a Kananaskis Pass is required

Trailhead:
First we will leave our return car(s) at the Little Highwood Pass parking lot, located 60.6 km south on Highway 40 from the Trans-Canada Highway. Then carpool about 7km further to the starting point trailhead.

Starting point of hike will be at South Pocaterra Ridge - Highwood Pass parking lot (also called Highwood Meadows lot or Ptarmigan Cirque-Highwood Pass parking lot)
