12 Mile Coulee--MICROSPIKES MANDATORY
Details
Microspikes/crampons with spikes MANDATORY (NOT traction devices for urban walking). NO SPIKES, NO HIKE!!!
12 Mile Coulee, where moose, porcupine, and other wildlife are quite often seen, will keep us out of the wind for our 2-hour walk. This event is NOT FOR BEGINNERS. We'll explore the sheltered slopes of the coulee at a steady pace, stopping briefly only when necessary. The goal is for participants to maintain fitness.
Distance: 7 to 8 km
Elevation Gain: 200 m-ish
Approx. Time on trail: 2 hrs
Pace: Steady, with very few stops.
A waiting list has been created. To be accepted for the event, you are required to read, then agree to the waiver by answering the RSVP question regarding the Slow and Steady Hiker Club Waiver, plus replying to my direct message to give emergency contact's name and phone number. Please COMPLETE BOTH PARTS OF THE RSVP QUESTION by: 1, stating your acceptance of the S&S Club risk waiver with, "Yes, I accept"; 2, providing to organizer, when I direct message you, your emergency contact's name and phone number. Attendance is at the discretion of the organizer, NOT first come, first served -- multiple 'no show' would render member ineligible for participation.
Events are weather dependent. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear shoes/boots with good traction for steep inclines. Poles would be helpful also. Be sure to check the posting the morning of the hike for updates and/or cancellation due to inclement weather.
Prior to the event, you are required to read and agree to online, the RSVP question regarding the Slow and Steady Hiker Club Waiver.
