Random winter backpack overnight. I'm going to hot tent it. 2 days 1 night. Will need snowshoes. Will be searching for a suitable camp site. No facilities. Preferable if you have winter backpacked before, if not contact me first. You'll need a backpacking saw to process firewood. Trail head meet location will be sent to you just prior to the event but it will be south of hwy 40. We'll be de-camping after brunch and heading for refreshments at a nearby town. I'm basically testing out some new gear. Expect any kind of weather conditions including snowfall and very cold conditions. There will be no shared equipment. You're expected to be self sufficient. If you can't do all activities like apres-hike please don't sign up.

Distance: Approx 2-5km one way.
Elevation Gain: 100 meters approx one way.

Meal planning: Inbound lunch on trail. 1 dinner and 1 brunch. We'll be stopping over at a nearby town on the way back for lunch.

Note withdrawal cut off time. Will need a minimum of three persons for this to be a go else I might as well solo it. RSVP only if you are firm.
Any questions let me know.

Required equipment:

- Usual Winter backpacking equipment, see Sample List Not going to need everything on this list but its a good place to start. The lighter the better.
- Usually white gas stoves work much better below -10c.
- Backpacking saw.
- Snow shovel might be handy.
- While winter, will still be doing a bear hang.
- Trowel for cat holes (or find a really good stick).

This is a fun anything goes trip. If you are uptight about stuff, might not be the trip for you. If you can't do all activities, this event is not for you. Sorry no dogs. If needed we'll carpool from town in the south if needed. Gas Fee contribution: $20.00 per person from Calgary. Indicate if you can drive or be a passenger. I'll definitely be driving. Note there is no cell reception where we are going.
