I've been off hiking for several months, so I'm starting back with a couple slow paced hikes. Expect my hikes to move to slow/relaxed and then to relaxed by March and into relaxed/moderate by April/May. For this hike, we are going slow, absolutely no running ahead.

I like to hike around the 3P's in the winter/spring. It's beautiful through the trees and the blue ice on the creek is gorgeous as temperatures start to warm up.

To keep it fun and safe, I'll take a maximum of 12 hikers, only 2 can be new to me. We are not out for a run, this is a relaxing hike in the woods to get ready for spring hiking.

EXPECT SOLID ICE, WATER, SNOW, AND MUD. MICROSPIKES ARE MANDATORY. Please wear waterproof boots, gaiters, good microspikes, and bring poles. You may want a change of clothes, just in case. We might have to walk through a patch of several inches of flooding water over solid ice.

In case of anything unexpected, please bring a headlamp because we're starting late and it still gets dark early this time of year. I expect we'll be done way before dark.

I'm bringing my 7 year old German Shepherd Jasmine. She's used to hiking on leash and keeping her spot in line.

We will start on Powderface Trail, cross over at Prairie Link Trail, stop for a late lunch, and then return by Prairie Creek Trail.

Distance of approx. 17km

500m elevation gain

Dress in layers and make sure to bring microspikes. There is ice on the trail.

You should be in good shape due to the distance and icy conditions, but we will hike at a slow pace to enjoy nature and get back into shape.

If you are sick, or cannot attend, please let me know with as much notice as possible. Please do not attend if you are sick, I seem to catch everything that goes by.

Once you have been accepted onto the hike, you can arrange carpooling in the comments on your own. Recommended gas fee is $15. I can take three people from Petro at Hwy 1 and 22.

Everyone must read and sign the Slow and Steady waiver and code of conduct in order to participate. A sign in sheet will be available. Please have a pen and an emergency contact name and number.
