UPDATE: CHANGE OF LOCATION

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THE ELEVATION ON THIS HIKE AND I REALIZED THAT IT'S PROBABLY TOO MUCH ELEVATION FOR ME AFTER TAKING MONTHS OFF. SO, TO BE MORE REASONABLE FOR MY FIRST HIKE BACK, I'VE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE LOCATION TO GRASSI LAKES, WHICH HAS MUCH LESS ELEVATION GAIN.

I've been off hiking for several months, so I'm starting back with a couple slow paced hikes. Expect my hikes to move to slow/relaxed and then to relaxed by March and into relaxed/moderate by April/May. For this hike, we are going slow, absolutely no running ahead.

Beginners welcome.

We're going to do a nice relaxing hike to see the beautiful colored ponds at Grassi Lakes. We're hiking at a slow pace for people getting back into hiking after a break. We'll eat lunch at the top, and we may stop for a snack or drink at the Georgetown Pub in Canmore on the way back.

Distance - 3.5km

Elevation - 200m

Maximum group size is 12, for fun and safety. I will take a maximum of 6 new to me hikers.

Please bring microspikes. The temperatures will be above zero, but there may be a lot of ice. I also recommend waterproof hiking boots, poles, layers, water, first aid kit, lunch.

Meet in the Grassi Lakes parking lot (near Canmore) ready to hike at 10am. I have dark green Jeep.

Arrange your own carpooling in the comments AFTER you have been accepted on the hike. Recommended $20 gas fee. I can take 3 people from the Petro at Hwy 1 and 22.

Please note: If you sign up, but cannot attend, please take yourself off the list. If you cancel after 6pm the night before or don't show up (without a good reason), you will be marked as a "no show". It is inconsiderate to those on the waitlist who don't get to attend and everyone waiting for you at the trailhead.
