Prairie mountain and beyond (OT-4)

This is a slow hike. We move as a team, navigate as a team, and finish as a team. If you are a "trail runner" or prefer to push a fast pace, this event is not for you. We are here to embrace the challenge of the terrain and the company of the group at a relaxed, steady rhythm.

​The Challenge:
Please be aware that this is an Off-Trail hike. We will be deviating from marked paths into uncleared terrain. Expect "bushwhacking" (navigating through brush and deep snow).

​Attendance Policy: Priority will be given to group regulars and those with a consistent record of reliable attendance.
​🕒 Logistics & Meeting Point
​Meetup Time: 8:15 AM
​Location: Somerset LRT Station, East Parking Lot (Opposite Tim Hortons).
​Carpooling: Suggested contribution is $15/person.
​Time Commitment: 10 hours. Do not book evening plans. Off-trail navigation is unpredictable, and we will not rush to meet a deadline.

​❄️ Mandatory Gear & Safety
​Winter conditions are in full effect, and bushwhacking requires specific gear for safety and comfort.
​🔦 Headlamp (Mandatory): High likelihood of finishing in the dark. Do not join without one.
​⚙️ Traction: Microspikes are mandatory. * 🛡️ Gaiters: Highly recommended to keep snow and debris out of your boots while bushwhacking.
​🦯 Hiking Poles: Highly recommended for stability on uneven, off-trail slopes.
​🚫 Clothing: Technical layers/wool only. Absolutely no cotton or jeans.
​🎒 Supplies: Personal first aid kit, plenty of water, and a hearty lunch/snacks.
