Easy overnighter, just to get things going and re-dial in gear for this season. Training event for trips later this year. Random but not so random camping. Sign up only if you are firm. Limited spots.

First half of the hike in is a bit boring, bring lots of sunscreen and shade. I might even pack an umbrella if hot and sunny. Site has some very basic facilities.

Preferably you would have recently backpacked before. Note, I'm known to be a fast backpacker (see bit about pack weight) who tends not to stop much. Be prepared to snack on the move.

Your backpack should not weigh more than 30 lbs/13.5kg all in, including food and water. The lighter the better. My pack is probably going to be 16lbs. Gone are the days when I used to be a pack mule.

We'll need to carpool given gas prices these days and to avoid people getting lost. Camp site location will be made known to firm particpants later, it will be about 3 hrs drive south of the city. I'm definitely driving. We'll be de-camping just after a light breakfast and heading to to a nearby town for lunch after. If you can't do all activities please don't sign up. No cell reception where we are going.

Expect any kind of weather conditions including cold conditions and possible snow on the ground. There will be no shared equipment. You're expected to be self sufficient. If you've never random camped before, good opportunity to try things out.

Distance: Approx 15Km one way.
Elevation Gain: 650 meters one way.
Event Pace: 5 hr about hike in

Meal planning: Inbound lunch on trail, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. We'll be stopping over at a nearby town on the way back for lunch.

Note withdrawal cut off time. Will need a minimum of three persons for this to be a go else I might as well solo it. RSVP only if you are firm.

The event host reserves the right to not allow participants on the event if they are not fit enough or are not a fit for the group.

Any questions let me know.

Required equipment:
- Bear Spray
- a lightweight backpack total weight not more than 30lbs. Less is more.
- Usual Backpacking Equipment Not going to need everything on this list but its a good place to start. The lighter the better. With my ultralight pack setup, I'll be having a day hike compared to traditional backpack setups.
- There is a bear locker and green throne on site.

This is a fun anything goes trip. If you are uptight about stuff, this is not be the trip for you. If you can't do all activities, this event is also not for you. Sorry no dogs. We'll carpool from town in the south. Gas Fee contribution: $30.00 per person from Calgary. Note there is no cell reception where we are going.
