Wilderness Area Backpack Overnight OT4
Details
Cataract Pass. 3 days 2 nights. Day 2 will be exploring the area but no scrambles. Random camping. No facilities. You'll need a bear canister or an ursack for this trip, camping at open Alpine terrain. No fires allowed. Sign up only if you are firm. Limited spots. Not for slowpokes. Event is being done through hike style. Expect some wet feet creek crossings. I'm known not to stop much. I have a uber light pack. Be prepared to snack drink on the move.
Distance: Approx 17 Km one way.
Elevation Gain: 800 meters approx one way.
Event Pace: 5-6 hr about hike in
Your backpack should not weigh more than 25 lbs/11.5kg all in, including food and water. The lighter the better. I have very light pack.
You'll need a National Park pass if you are driving. I'm definitely driving. We'll be de-camping just after a light breakfast and heading to to a nearby town for lunch after. If you can't do all activities please don't sign up. No cell reception where we are going.
Expect any kind of weather conditions including cold conditions and possible snow on the ground. There will be no shared equipment. You're expected to be self sufficient. If you've never random camped before, good opportunity to try things out.
Meal planning: 3 lunch, 2 dinner and 2 breakfast. We'll be stopping over at a nearby town on the way back for lunch.
Note withdrawal cut off time. Will need a minimum of three persons for this to be a go else I might as well solo it. RSVP only if you are firm.
The event host reserves the right to not allow participants on the event if they are not fit enough or are not a fit for the group.
Any questions let me know.
