Sign up opens on Wednesday at 7:00pm
This is considered a difficult hike with a scramble. It is completed as a loop and features several boulder & rock walls to scramble, a long ridge walk, fantastic views, and multiple peaks including: Heart Mountain, Grant McEwan Peak, and a smaller unnamed peak with views out to Yates Mountain and Barrier Lake.
Grip gloves are highly recommended for the scramble (such as garden gloves with rubber grip). Poles are helpful for the descent.
Hiking time is approximate.
- Distance: 13.5 km (loop)
- Elevation gain: 950 m
- Difficulty: hard
- Number of hikers: approx. 6-8 (no beginners)
If you sign up, but cannot attend, please remove your name from the list by 10am Friday. If you cancel anytime after 10:00am Friday or don’t show up (without contacting me) you will be marked as a “no show”. This is visible to other organizers and may affect your chances of attending other hikes.
Meet up time and location:
8:30 am @ Shouldice Park and Ride Lot
We will carpool from here. Drivers: a Kananaskis Pass is required
Follow AllTrails directions to trailhead at Heart Creek Day Use Area
