Remote Wilderness Backpack - Vol. 15
Details
Vladdy Says: I'm doing my annual remote back packing trip the week of Aug 30 - Sep. 6, 7-8 days total. I have a decent leeway with dates and am open to accommodate people's schedules - I can schedule the trip anytime between Aug 22 and Sep 16th
It takes 1.5 days to drive to trailhead. The area is not catered to, so don't expect urban park backpacking as in Banff or Jasper. This is for the love true wilderness, and the place is of unusual beauty!
The trip itself will be 4 days plus I tend to tag on a day hike afterwards if people are interested.
Total distance ~55-65 km.
Only committed reliable backpackers please.
Be comfortable and knowledgeable in wilderness self reliance in grizzly habitat, they frequent the area, however in late August they go down in the valleys to fish for salmon, so encounters should be less likely.
Some light scrambling may be involved depending on which ridges we chose to pick, but overall terrain is not the harshest for this trip. Sections of bushwhacking and soggy ground are possible.
It is desirable you know how to use a compass and read a map, although I can take care of these aspects.
Expenses will include sharing gas money, and the odd campsite along the way. I do recommend taking a hotel room for a shower and a good sleep after the trip and before heading back though.
